This is my entry for the Federation of Canadian Artists First International Watercolour Biennale. This show is by invitation with the FCA hosting the event.
40 artists from Spain and Portugal are showing with 20 local watercolour artists. The themed show is Urbanscapes, cityscapes, landscapes and seascapes.
Even though the subject matter is not the norm for me I enjoyed painting the totems from Stanley Park. I have been fascinated by this view and had to think about how I wanted the totems represented. There are many on the site and I have chosen only 3. The 3 I chose all have Thunderbirds at the top of the totem. The shapes and colours are the inspiration. On this day the sun was shining but I want to paint them again in a smaller more intimate size with a snowy atmosphere.
All the paintings in the show are roughly the same size at 50 x 70 cm. A request by the organizers.
I hope you will come to the opening event Thursday April 25th from 6-9 pm at 1241 Cartwright Street, Granville Island, Vancouver.
